A Christmas of Firsts

  • Our first Christmas as Tyler and Kelley Messina
This year we had a very small Christmas. Our deal was to only get each other one gift. Little did we know that Tyler would start having car trouble and it would cost a lot to fix, so Tyler told me having a working car was a good enough gift for him so he didn't let me get him anything. I got my gift the Saturday before Christmas at the Idaho Humane Society. Tyler surprised me that day before we got there and told me I could pick any cat I wanted. So we looked for a while and after looking in the cat room we decided to go to where the foster cats were being shown. It was love at first sight. I know have my Abby Dabby and I couldn't be happier.

  • Our first Christmas away from home in Idaho

I have to admit spending Thanksgiving and Christmas away from "home" was a bit hard. It was weird not doing the same things for Christmas Eve and Christmas day that I've been doing all my life. It was fun, however, starting new things that I will be doing for the rest of my life. This year Tyler and I decided to go hiking on Christmas Eve. We had such a good time we have decided to make it tradition. We went to Camel's Back and hiked for a good two hours. O.k. it was more like walked on an unpaved, snow covered, flat trail but still, we had fun and so did Daisy.

  • Our first white Christmas

Living in Southern California, hearing the song "White Christmas" never holds any realistic meaning. Unless Mother Nature decides to take the day off and you have the weirdest weather imaginable, you can bet on never having a white Christmas. But this year the song took on new meaning and lucky for us, we had a white Christmas our first year. It snowed a good four to five inches a couple before days so we were guaranteed a Christmas of white but to have a true white Christmas it has to snow on Christmas day and that is what we got.

I hope all of you had as nice a Christmas season as we did.

Sounds like you had a wonderful holiday season. We certainly missed you here, that's for sure, but do realize that time marches on. It will be so fun to establish your own traditions and then maybe mix in a little of your's and Tyler's childhood traditions when they will work for you. Don't "not" post just because you don't have pictures. Love hearing about what is going on.

Love ya!

Kelley, I loved this post! Good one! I know what you mean, I used to sing "White Christmas" and not think a thing about it, but now I love it! I LOVE the new look of the blog - GREAT background!! Where did you find it?

It's okay that you don't have pictures - it's forcing you to be more descriptive. I love to read it all!
